German Shepherd White

These dogs are not albinos, as their eyes and nose are dark, like in standard dogs. Such dogs have always occurred in the breed, as the gene responsible for such coat color is recessive. This coat color was a disqualifying fault up to the late 1960’s; such dogs were not bred. Nowadays, dogs with this coat color are considered to be a separate breed variety. Such dogs can compete in obedience, agility and other sports together with the standard variety of the breed.

The founder of the breed a German cavalry officer, Captain Max von Stephanitz was the first person who decided to breed the best working dog. By crossbreeding with some other breeds he gained the result. Thus nowadays we have the dog that is very versatile and can be taught a variety of tricks. In 1898, 11 people devoted to the breed organized the breed club. Nowadays this club is the biggest club in the world and it is referred to as "SV". A breed was drafted, a registration system composed, and breeding regulations were set up.
